OREANDA-NEWS. The Prime Minister, Mark Rutte, is visiting the European Parliament in Strasbourg today. In an address to the plenary session the Prime Minister will outline the priorities of the Netherlands' EU Presidency. He will be accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bert Koenders.

Plenary session speech

The President of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz, will greet the Prime Minister and Mr Koenders this morning. After signing the guest book the Prime Minister will address the plenary session. Mr Rutte will then speak with the members of the European Parliament. The visit will conclude with a lunch meeting with Mr Schulz.

Priorities of the Presidency

As holder of the Presidency, the Netherlands will represent the Council of the European Union during the plenary session of the European Parliament. Traditionally, the head of government discusses the incoming Presidency's priorities at the European Parliament.
