OREANDA-NEWS. Repair and Mechanical Works of JSC PIMCU Has Introduced Prototype of a New Mining Machine.

«Today we, as many other companies, have no the possibility to purchase equipment manufactured abroad, hence, we have to manufacture it by ourselves. Due to the growth of currency rates the cost of domestic manufacturing becomes lower than prices for imported machines», says Sergey Shurygin, Director General of JSC PIMCU.

This compact diesel-fueled load-haul-dumper model PD-1D is to replace narrow-cut machines that were previously purchased in France and Sweden for the use in mines of PIMCU. Technical parameters and capacity of PD-1D are equal to that of similar narrow-cut machines from foreign manufacturers. Its length is 5400 mm, width – 1050 mm, height – 2100 mm, bucket capacity – 0.6 cub.m.

«Over the last years, we have gained an extensive experience in manufacturing, in particular, the motor-operated load-haul-dumper PD-2E. More than 90 machines of this type are manufactured for PIMCU since 1991. Capacity of these machines is not less than that of equivalent imported dumpers, but their cost is six-seven times lower», explains Oleg Alexeyev, Director General of Repair and Mechanical Works.

As compared to PD-2E, the new machine has smaller outline dimensions and higher manoeuvrability. It is intended for mining of thin ore bodies. Smaller dimensions of this machine allow for considerably lower dilution and cost of the mining-processing cycle, while the protection system of operator's cabin makes lower the risk of injuries.

The new PD-1D model is calculated and engineered by the team of engineering department of Repair and Mechanical Works in co-operation with designers of well-known Russian company JSC Pnevmostroymashina. The technical design specification received from miners of PIMCU became the main document for designers. Professionals of Pnevmostroymashina provided procurement and supply of hydraulic equipment, while the most of parts were manufactured and the prototype was assembled at the Repair and Mechanical Works.

«The prototype of mining machine produced by the RMW team is transferred to miners of the company for production tests. Upon completion of the tests engineering solutions shall be made to improve reliability of mining machines. After follow-up modifications the improved machine shall be transferred to serial production», says Oleg Alexeyev.
