OREANDA-NEWSOne of the world's largest tobacco companies, British American Tobacco (BAT), has decided to relocate its regional control center in Eastern Europe from Ukraine to Romania due to the unpredictable fiscal policies of the Ukrainian government. This was reported by the Ukrainian publication "New time", referring to the official message of the Kiev office of BAT.

"British American Tobacco company will reformat the business management structure in Eastern Europe. If earlier Ukraine was the center of a region including 12 countries, then from 2020 the Ukrainian office will be included in another region with a decision center in Romania", it was informed. It clarifies that such a decision was influenced, inter alia, by the "unpredictable fiscal and regulatory policy of the Ukrainian government". Meanwhile, the company noted that the reformatting of the business will not lead to a significant revision of the state of the enterprise in Ukraine.

BAT, the second largest tobacco company in the world after Philip Morris International, was founded in 1902 in England. British American Tobacco Ukraine was established in 1993 on the basis of a tobacco factory in Priluki. The company's portfolio includes international brands KENT, Rothmans, Pall Mall, Vogue, Dunhill, Lucky Strike, Capri, Glo, as well as national cigarettes "Priluki". The company exports products to Belarus, Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, delivers large airports to the duty free network.

According to BAT Executive Director Jack Bowles, his goal is to turn BAT into a stronger, simpler and faster organization, as well as significantly accelerate the development of a portfolio of new products to ensure long-term business sustainability.
