OREANDA-NEWS. The Russian government has adopted a concept aimed at the development of electric vehicles in the country and designed for the next 10 years. This was stated at the operational meeting by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

According to him, the document concerns almost all categories of cars from passenger cars and buses to tractors. The key tasks in this area should be to stimulate demand for electric vehicles through concessional lending, the development of comprehensive urban programs and the infrastructure of charging stations. Electric vehicles will be included in preferential lending and leasing programs, and from next year it is planned to launch an experiment on the free passage of electric vehicles on toll roads. All this is of particular importance in the context of the planned refusal of some states from transport with internal combustion engines.

«It is obvious that electric cars or cars that run on more environmentally friendly powertrains are the future. And we also need to actively develop this area, especially since the country already has a number of competencies», the Prime Minister noted.

The implementation of the concept will allow Russia to form it's own industry for the production of electric vehicles, attract private investment and create about 40 thousand high-performance jobs: it is assumed that the first hydrogen gas stations will appear in Russia in 2025. In addition, the development of electric transport will have a positive impact on the automotive industry and related industries, and will also contribute to the formation of a modern and comfortable urban environment.
