Russia Ratified Agreement with China on Use of GLONASS and Beidou Systems for Peaceful Purposes

OREANDA-NEWS. At a plenary meeting on Friday, the Federation Council approved the law on ratification of an intergovernmental agreement between the Russian Federation and China on cooperation in the use of GLONASS and Beidou global navigation satellite systems for peaceful purposes, which provides for the mutual placement of stations in the two countries.
The document was signed in Beijing on November 7, 2018 in order to ensure the compatibility and complementarity of navigation satellite systems - the Russian GLONASS and the Chinese Beidou. In particular, the parties committed to locate measuring stations of the GLONASS system in China and the Beidou system in Russia. The capitals of the two countries also discussed the use of these systems for civilian purposes, including the development of common Russian-Chinese and international standards for the application of navigation technologies that use such satellite systems.
This agreement consists of the provisions of the countries concerned, in addition, there are written all the instructions on the protection of proav on the results of research, as well as various property. The Russian side guarantees a high level of responsibility during the project implementation, besides Roskosmos undertakes to comply with all accepted norms and agreements. Countries hope for a steady increase in cooperation in scientific and other areas.
Experts of both countries note the adoption of this agreement, it will have a beneficial effect on cooperation in all areas and will serve as a good example to foreign colleagues. In addition, the Russian senator stressed that strategic cooperation is impossible without such practices.
The head of the Russian Committee highlighted the importance of this agreement, and called it an excellent example of the development of international cooperation, and he also expressed hope for further partnership with China. “It's clear that our geopolitical rivals are extremely jealous of this, but the more such projects there are, the more successful and advanced they will be and the more stable our position will be”, said the senator.
