OREANDA-NEWS. Social network Twitter has introduced a ban on the publication of advertising the state media on its platform, according to a published on the website of the company the statement.

Determining what media is public, Twitter will take into account factors such as control over the editorial content and finances of the organization, the influence (or "interference") to other media and journalists, "political pressure or control over the process of production and dissemination" of news.

The company explained its decision by a desire to protect the "healthy debate and open dialogue". "There is a difference between engaging in a discussion with the accounts to which you have subscribed, and the content you see from advertisers whose accounts you may be signed", — stated in the message. Clarifies that the new rules will not relate to the public media, as well as those who exclusively distributes entertainment, sports or travel content.
