OREANDA-NEWS. Reuters agency reports with reference to traders that China bought record 1.6 million tons of Russian oil for delivery over the next four weeks, taking advantage of low prices of fuel and falling demand in Europe.

According to the publication, in January, the PRC also purchased a record monthly volume of Russian oil at that time: 1.2 million tons.

Reuters’s interlocutors say that the Chinese company Unipec bought about 800 thousand tons of Urals oil in the Baltic ports for delivery in the second half of March and about 500 thousand tons for delivery in early April. In addition, the British-Dutch oil and gas company Shell ordered a tanker to ship 300 thousand tons of Urals oil to China in the first half of April. Several other refiners also placed an order for Urals.
