OREANDA-NEWS   This year, the share of Russian gas in the structure of German consumption has decreased to about 20%, Bloomberg reports with reference to the Federal Association of Energy and Water Supply Enterprises of Germany (BDEW). Last year it was 55%.

This happened against the background of a significant reduction in imports of Russian fuel to Europe, as well as the desire of Germany to diversify supplies due to the Russian military operation in Ukraine, the agency writes.

According to BDEW, Germany compensates for the reduction in supplies from Russia by increasing imports from the Netherlands, as well as from Belgium and France (its volume is not specified). In addition, last week the authorities launched the country's first floating terminal for receiving liquefied natural gas (LNG): it opened in Wilhelmshaven in northwestern Germany. Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that thanks to this, Germany's energy supply will not "depend on pipelines from Russia."
