Minsk Confirms Purchase of 80 Thousand Tons of Norwegian Oil
On January 20, a representative of the Lithuanian company Mantas Dubauskas stated that the state-owned enterprise Lietuvos gelezinkeliai (Lithuanian Railways) will deliver a consignment of purchased Norwegian oil to Minsk. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Linas Linkevicius, said last week that Vilnius and Minsk are conducting a dialogue on the issue of transporting energy resources through Lithuania to Belarus.
According to media reports, the party acquired by the Minsk will be delivered to the port of Lithuania on Wednesday. Latvian Transport Minister Talis Linkaits said on January 18 that Latvia has the necessary infrastructure in order to pump oil through its ports to Belarus. Earlier, First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Dmitry Krutoy said that his country had sent proposals for the purchase of oil to Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Poland and the Baltic countries.
