OREANDA-NEWS Last year, oil supplies to India increased 19 times compared to the previous year, to 41 million tons, Russia ranks first among the leading fuel suppliers to the country, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said in his column in the magazine "Energy Policy".

Coal supplies to India have also tripled — up to 20 million tons. Exports of petroleum products to India doubled in 2022, amounting to 6.2 million tons.

"Already in May 2022, oil supplies from Russia to Asian countries for the first time exceeded the volumes sent to Europe. By the end of 2022, the growth of oil exports to friendly countries amounted to 76% YoY (year-on-year. — RBC), petroleum products — 20% yoy, gas (pipeline gas and LNG) — 8% yoy. In total, almost 40 million tons of oil and petroleum products were redirected from western markets to eastern markets last year," Novak wrote.

He noted that Russia ranks second in terms of oil supplies, the same line in terms of pipeline gas supplies and fourth in terms of LNG exports to China.

LNG supplies increased by 35.2% compared to 2021 (6 million tons), coal exports — by a quarter (67.1 million tons), and oil supplies — by 28% (89 million tons t). In addition, a "record" 4.7 billion kWh of electricity was exported to China.

"This trend will continue this year. Of the 223 million tons of oil and petroleum products exported to the west, only 87 million tons (or only 40%) will remain," the Deputy Prime Minister added.
