OREANDA-NEWS In the first two months of 2024, there was a significant decrease in the number of condom packages sold in pharmacies in Russia. According to the Vedomosti newspaper and market statistics, only 3.1 million condom packages were sold, which is the lowest figure in the past five years. This is a decrease of 12.4% compared to the same period last year.

However, in terms of money, sales increased slightly by 0.03 billion rubles, reaching 1.17 billion rubles. This is an increase of 2.8% compared to a year ago, when sales were 1.14 billion rubles. Nikolay Bespalov, Director of Development at RNC Pharma, noted that this trend is primarily due to the transition of consumers to contraceptive pills.

Despite the decrease in condom sales, the demand for pregnancy tests has increased significantly. According to DSM Group data, citizens spent a record 612 million rubles on pregnancy tests in the first ten weeks of the year, an increase of 20.5% compared to last year. This indicates that consumers are still concerned about pregnancy prevention and seeking accurate information about their reproductive health.
