OREANDA-NEWS Roskachestvo expects the share of Russian wine in total global production to grow from just over 2% at the moment to 3.5% by 2030, Maxim Protasov, the head of the organization, said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to Rosalkogoltabakkontrol, grape wine production increased by 10.8% in annual terms over the first 10 months of this year and amounted to 30.05 million decaliters. Sparkling wines were produced by 8.4% more than in the same period last year - 14.61 million decaliters. The production of liqueur wines also increased by 10.1%, to 1.073 million decaliters.

"We believe that it (Russia's share in global wine production - ed.) should increase. If it is now slightly more than 2%, then based on the introduction of new vineyards, increased yields and potential growth in exports to new markets, we believe that it is quite possible to increase the share of Russian wine in the global market to 3.5%," Protasov said, adding that it is a question of increasing the share by 2030.
