OREANDA-NEWS Russia has become the main buyer of furniture made in Uzbekistan. This was reported by the Prime agency with reference to the National Committee on Statistics of this post-Soviet republic.
It turned out that from January to July 2025, 41.9 percent of Uzbekistan's total furniture exports were shipped to Russia. Overall, shipments of these products to the foreign market increased by ten percent year-on-year and reached $10.5 million. Russia bought furniture worth 4.4 million dollars. In addition, Kazakhstan, with an indicator of 2.8 million dollars, and Azerbaijan, which spent 1.2 million for these purposes, became major importers of Uzbek furniture.
According to experts, one of the reasons that furniture sales in Russia have collapsed by 12-15 percent since the beginning of 2025, while prices for cabinet furniture have increased by 15-25 percent in a year and a half, was the departure of IKEA and other foreign brands. As a result, local companies had to urgently increase their product range and rebuild their production and logistics chains. This required large investments and increased the cost of production.
