OREANDA-NEWS. The Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant (UAZ) with its South American partners, Inversions UAZ Chile, has completed certification tests of the UAZ Hunter off-road vehicle. Deliveries of cars to Chile have already begun, sales of UAZ Hunter are scheduled for April 2019. This and next year, 18 dealer centers will open in the country.

Mining companies and surf clubs were showing particular interest to Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant production, the automaker’s press-cutting service reports. SUV UAZ Hunter will be available to buyers in three kinds - Classic Hard Top, Classic Soft Top and Trophy, which have differences in appearance and equipment. For example, Classic Hard Top and Classic Soft Top are standard Hunters, while Trophy is characterized by original brown-gray metallic color and more serious preparation for off-road (protection of steering gear, crankcase, and transfer gear-box, plus off-road tires BFGoodrich All-Terrain).

Regardless of version, a gasoline engine of 2.7 liters and 135 hp is installed on UAZ Hunter, paired with the engine is a Dymos 5-speed manual gearbox, and all-wheel drive transmission supplemented by splitter.

Andrey Dorofeyev, UAZ Export Director, comments, “This year, Chilean partners are planning to certify UAZ-2206, UAZ Patriot SUV and the UAZ Profi light truck. We expect that the Chilean market will be able to consume from 300 to 500 SUVs annually after the launch of all UAZ models on the market.”

Earlier in March, UAZ also resumed serial deliveries of cars to Cuba, where UAZ Patriot and Pickup SUVs and light truck Profi were successfully tested at the Institute of Transport of Cuba. This allows the company to export several hundred SUVs per year to this country in the context of joint Russian-Cuban projects. UAZ has already started shipping the first batch of Pickups for the Cuban energy industry.
