OREANDA-NEWS In the baseline scenario, the total sales of new passenger cars in Russia by the end of 2025 are at risk of falling by 20 percent compared to the figure for 2024 and will drop to 1.25 million units. This is reported by TASS with reference to the updated forecast of Autostat.

Under favorable circumstances, sales may drop by 10 percent, to 1.4 million units, and in a pessimistic scenario, by 30 percent, to 1.1 million units. The previous estimate implied a decline of 12, 5 and 20 percent, respectively, to 1.38, 1.49 and 1.25 million units.

Analysts attributed the consumer potential provided by high incomes of certain categories of the population, active promotion by dealers and car manufacturers, as well as government programs of preferential car loans and leasing to positive factors that may have an impact on the domestic market. Experts attributed the decline in the availability of car loans against the background of the tight monetary policy of the Central Bank, high inflation and regular indexation of recycling.
