OREANDA-NEWS In a pessimistic scenario, Russian civil aviation may lose 339 airliners by 2030, or about a third of the entire fleet. Dmitry Yadrov, head of the Federal Air Transport Agency, warned about this at a meeting of the Federation Council Committee on Economic policy, TASS reports.

We are talking about 109 foreign aircraft that cannot be repaired, and 230 Russian ones. Among the latter, there are those that will have to be grounded due to the lack of foreign components, and aircraft with an expiring service life, that is, 40, 50 or even 60 years old.

According to Yadrov, it is also necessary to prepare for the disposal of 200 helicopters, the vast majority of which are 190 Soviet and Russian—made vehicles.

As of October 6, the fleet of 76 airlines responsible for 99 percent of all traffic totals 1,135 aircraft. However, 47 of them are no longer in operation due to various malfunctions and difficulties with repairs, which cannot be carried out due to the refusal of cooperation from foreign manufacturers.
