OREANDA-NEWS  Total sales of foreign-made cars in Russia fell by almost 40 percent. The collapse of the sale of this type of car in the country was stated by the head of the Public Road Safety Management System Konstantin Krokhmal. His words are quoted by Moskovsky Komsomolets (MK).

Against the background of a sharp rise in the cost of cars, the tight monetary policy of the Central Bank, a decrease in the availability of car loans and a regular increase in recycling, demand for foreign cars in Russia collapsed, the analyst said. Sales of foreign cars by the end of 2025 decreased by more than 500 thousand units. "Russians have practically stopped buying foreign cars," Krokhmal concluded.

Such dynamics had practically no effect on the sale of Russian cars, he added. In 2025, as well as at the end of 2024, a total of about 800 thousand such cars were sold in the country. The demand for them is largely provided by representatives of taxis, taxi companies, and carriers. They are obliged to buy domestic cars, taking into account the requirements of the authorities, Krokhmal explained. The interest of ordinary citizens in such cars remains not the highest, the expert concluded.
