OREANDA-NEWS According to Maxim Kadakov, the editor-in-chief of Za Rulem, Kyrgyzstan has significantly increased the volume of car exports to Russia and Kazakhstan in the first five months of this year. A total of 2,741 vehicles were shipped, which is 11 times more than in the same period last year.

Now, in fact, Kyrgyzstan acts as a transshipment base for cars. However, in the near future it is planned to launch its own production of cars on the territory of Kyrgyzstan. In May of this year, the construction of a small plant in the Chui region was launched in partnership with UzAuto from Uzbekistan. Chevrolet and Isuzu cars will be assembled at the new plant in Ak-Suu. It is planned to assemble 19 models.

Maxim Kadakov stressed that the production of cars will be carried out according to a similar scheme, which has already been tested on the example of Moskvich 3. In the first year, it is planned to assemble 10 thousand cars using the method of large units, and then increase production to 30 thousand cars per year using the method of assembling small units. At the same time, a significant part of the components will be produced on site. This strategy is familiar and used by AvtoVAZ, which recently launched the Lada X-Cross 5 model and stated that the price of a car of 2.5 million rubles is adequate.

Given that Kyrgyzstan is a member of the Eurasian Economic Union, some of these cars will certainly enter the Russian market. And if Kyrgyz suppliers act with more reasonable prices, unlike Russian dealers, then Chevrolet cars assembled in Kyrgyzstan may be more affordable than VAZ cars, Kadakov believes.
