OREANDA-NEWS Customs officers of the Pskov region have stopped an attempt to illegally import pigeons into Russia from Latvia. This was reported in the press service of the Pskov customs.

During the inspection, employees of the MAPP Ubylinka customs post found birds among the driver's personal belongings. To ensure their transportation, the driver placed each pigeon in a sock. The immobilized birds were in a small suitcase.

Two administrative cases have been initiated against the foreigner and a fine has been imposed.

Earlier, a Russian woman brought home fifty bars of chocolate from Dubai and ran into a fine. Mineralnye Vody customs officers stopped a 48-year-old woman in the airport's green corridor. More than 12 kilograms of sweets worth 164 thousand rubles were found in her luggage.
