OREANDA-NEWS  At the end of September 2025, a record weekly new car sales figure was set in the Russian market. This is reported by Autostat with reference to its own statistical data.

From September 22 to September 28, a total of 32,274 new cars were sold in Russia. The indicator of the 39th week of the year turned out to be the maximum for the domestic car market. The domestic manufacturer Lada has retained its leadership among the brands represented in the Russian Federation. This brand accounted for a fifth (20.2 percent) of all sales during the reporting period. The top 5 also included Haval (14.4 percent), Geely (8.6 percent), Belgee (7.1 percent) and Chery (5.3 percent).

The head of the agency, Sergey Tselikov, explained the increase in sales of new cars in the country at the end of September due to high demand ahead of the new recycling. Changes in the calculation method, he explained, would seriously raise prices for imported cars. The main victims, the expert noted, will be cars with an engine capacity of over 160 horsepower. Preferential rates will not be provided for these cars, which will affect their final cost.

Among the most susceptible to the rise in prices of foreign cars due to the new recycling, Tselikov mentioned, in particular, models popular among Russians, including Geely Monjaro, BMW X3, BMW X5, BMW 5-Series, Toyota Highlander, Toyota RAV4, Kia Sorento, Kia Carnival, Hyundai Palisade and Hyundai Santa Fe. At the same time, Russia will still have a number of sought-after "luxury" cars like the Volkswagen Golf, Tiguan, Passat, Kia K3 and K5, Mazda 3, CX-3 and CX-30. Of the premium models, BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Audi A3 are unlikely to be subject to a sharp rise in price, he concluded.
