OREANDA-NEWS  By the end of October, total sales of new passenger cars showed the best result in 2025 and reached 165.7 thousand units. Autostat reports on the surge in sales of this type of car in the Russian market on the eve of the next increase in recycling, citing its own statistical data.

The achieved result was the highest since November last year, analysts said. Record sales levels of new passenger cars in Russia have been recorded for the fourth month in a row, sales have been steadily above 120,000 units since July. Compared to the September figure, sales of this type of car increased by 35 percent in October.

Such dynamics allowed the domestic car market to practically return to last year's level. In October 2024, sales of new passenger cars in the country were 3 percent (5.5 thousand units) higher. The head of the press service of the analytical agency, Azat Timerkhanov, attributed the rapid growth in sales in October to the news about the upcoming change in the methodology for calculating scrap for foreign cars of the M1 category. "This contributed to the activation of some potential buyers who decided to buy cars before their prices rose," he stated.
