OREANDA-NEWS. The authorities of the Chinese capital, after identifying three new cases of coronavirus infection, have strengthened anti-epidemic measures, in particular, introduced a two-week centralized quarantine for visitors from areas within the country with a high epidemiological risk, the Beijing government said on Thursday.

Three cases of coronavirus infection were identified in Beijing on August 4, according to official figures. The city authorities are stepping up anti-epidemic measures despite the high level of vaccinations, for example, the city health committee said that as of Thursday, 19,305,900 people were vaccinated against COVID-19, of which 18,006,700 were fully vaccinated. The vaccination rate of Beijing population over 18 years old is 92.46%.

"Recently, due to the impact of the delta variant of coronavirus, outbreaks have occurred in many parts of the country. Beijing is facing an ongoing increase in epidemiological risks and pressure on the epidemic prevention and control system," the government said in a statement.

It is noted that in order to prevent the further spread of the epidemic in the capital, the authorities decided to adjust policy and strengthen measures to prevent and combat the pandemic.

Those who arrived or returned to Beijing from areas of high epidemiological risk must undergo a 14-day centralized quarantine, after which they should closely monitor their health for another seven days. During quarantine, PCR testing, temperature measurements and constant monitoring will be carried out in case of any symptoms.

Also, as part of the prevention of the spread of the disease throughout the city, mandatory temperature measurements in public places, wearing protective masks, as well as mandatory scanning of the "health code", without which it is impossible to enter public transport, taxis, any premises, including shops, pharmacies, hospitals, have been reintroduced.
