OREANDA-NEWS  After the change of power in Syria, the family of former President Bashar al-Assad settled in Moscow and leads a luxurious lifestyle, The New York Times reports, citing sources.

According to the newspaper, immediately after the move, the Asads stayed in apartments at the Four Seasons hotel, where accommodation can reach 13 thousand dollars per week. Later, they moved to a two-story penthouse in the Federation Tower, and then to Rublevka.

"A Syrian expat in Moscow decided to have dinner in the city's tallest skyscraper. The Sixty Restaurant, with a view from the 62nd floor, regularly hosts representatives of the Russian political elite and foreign celebrities. He was surprised when he found out who one of the high—ranking guests who dined with him was: Bashar al-Assad," writes the NYT.

According to a former Syrian official, Russian special services continue to monitor the movements of Assad and his family.
