OREANDA-NEWS. The European Commission (EC) has developed and announced three criteria for the abolition of quarantines in the EU, but there are no possible dates for their abolition yet. This was stated by the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, on Wednesday at a video conference, presenting the EC's recommendations to the countries of the community on quarantine lifting.

“The first is an epidemiological criterion, which should confirm that the spread of the disease has decreased significantly over a long period of time. This may be indicated, for example, by a steady decrease in the number of new infections and hospitalizations”, she said.

The published document of the European Commission reveals the remaining criteria, the second of which is the availability of sufficient capacity of the health system. Finally, the third criterion is the sufficient potential of the system for monitoring the disease and contacts of infected people.

Over the past week, in most EU countries, the number of infected and dead people per day has relatively stabilized, and in some cases even started to decline.
