OREANDA-NEWS Finland has decided to tighten the rules of entry for Russian tourists. Such a proposal was made at a joint meeting of the President of the country and the Ministerial Committee on Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. A statement about this was published on the official website of the government.

The ministry noted that the travel of Russians to Finland and transit through it to other countries of the Schengen area may threaten the international relations of this state. "Therefore, it is necessary to further tighten restrictions on non—urgent travel in order to prevent abuse," the report says.

Specific tightening measures are not specified in the statement. It is said only that a return to any restrictions that have been in effect against Russian tourists in the past is not excluded.

Earlier it was reported that the Finnish border guard called the Russian tourists heading home liars. The couple traveled from Russia to Europe via the Finnish border. They assured the checkpoint staff that they would fly to Istanbul. But there the plans of tourists changed, and they returned to the Schengen area. On the way back to Russia, Finnish civil servants began to ask travelers in raised tones why they did not immediately warn them about this.
