OREANDA-NEWS Foreign intelligence agencies were active in Belarus before the presidential election. This was stated by Secretary of State of the Security Council of Belarus Alexander Volfovich.

"We see how the ground is being intensively probed to find pain points and triggers in society for organizing provocations capable of rocking the situation in the country," the Belarusian Security Council stressed.

Volfovich spoke about the intensification of intelligence and subversive activities of the special services before the upcoming elections. According to the Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus, Western countries are seeking a change of power in the country and a break in allied relations with Russia. The official added that the security services are actively using disinformation, discrediting the authorities in front of the population and the international community, as well as creating a split in the state apparatus.

Earlier, the Investigative Committee of Belarus told about the opposition's plans to stage "performances" in connection with the elections. It is noted that the purpose of such events is to create a negative image around the election campaign in the country.
