Jellyfish blocked nuclear power plant in France

OREANDA-NEWS Jellyfish have blocked the operation of one of France's largest nuclear power plants. The Guardian newspaper writes about this.
We are talking about the Gravelines nuclear power plant, located between the cities of Dunkirk and Calais and using water from a channel connected to the North Sea for cooling. On the night of August 11, four reactors were urgently shut down due to the ingress of a large number of jellyfish into the cooling systems. Two reactors were already under scheduled maintenance, so the plant completely suspended operations.
Experts believe that the incident is related to the warming of the waters in the North Sea due to climate change. Under more favorable conditions, the jellyfish began to reproduce faster and longer, which is why their numbers increased. In addition, the spread of jellyfish is influenced by ships: larvae often end up in the ballast tanks of ships in one port, and end up in the water in another.
Earlier, Russian tourists complained about the invasion of unusual blue jellyfish on the beaches of Tunisia.
