OREANDA-NEWS  Los Angeles is preparing for another protest against the migration policy of the current authorities: utilities are washing graffiti off walls, business owners are boarding up their shop windows in anticipation of possible pogroms, RIA Novosti correspondent reports.

After the curfew (20.00-06.00 local time), the situation in the city stabilized. There are many people in the city center, restaurants are open, and public transport is running.

Public utilities are working in places where protests took place earlier: they are washing and painting over graffiti left by the protesters. Business owners are also preparing for new possible nighttime pogroms. They board up the windows with plywood.

As of 13.30 (23.30 Moscow time), the stop in the city center remains calm. A few peaceful protests are taking place near the city hall. The police don't interfere.

The riots began on June 7 after a raid by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in downtown Los Angeles, where a massive operation to identify illegal migrants took place. Clashes with protesters broke out amid reports of possible cuts in federal funding for the state. The next day, the White House announced the deployment of 2,000 National Guard soldiers to the city.

The Los Angeles County authorities subsequently stated that they had not requested assistance from the National Guard and stressed that the decision to deploy it was made without consulting with local authorities. This has become the subject of public disagreement between the Republican White House and the Democratic leadership of the state.
