OREANDA-NEWS Foreign trading partners incur enormous losses by refusing to accept ships from Crimean ports, the issue with trading partners, primarily Turkey and Egypt, can be resolved at the level of intergovernmental commissions, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Crimea to the President of Russia, Deputy Prime Minister of the region Georgy Muradov said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to him, the potential of the Crimean seaports is still not even half used - this is not due to economic, but political reasons.

"In the context of unprecedented economic sanctions against Crimea, our foreign trading partners refuse to accept ships entering Crimean ports, are afraid of secondary sanctions and incur enormous economic losses. First of all, these are Turkey and Egypt, which, when making an appropriate decision at the government level on accepting Crimean cargo and ships coming from the ports of Crimea, could create hubs on their territory for transshipment of Russian cargo, including from new regions, to countries in Africa and the Middle East," Muradov believes.

The Permanent Representative said that the ports of Sevastopol, Feodosia and Kerch have all the necessary infrastructure and depths to receive transport and passenger ships, although they need to be modernized and equipped with modern equipment.

"But the work on the actual unblocking of the Crimean ports requires support at the level of the government of the Russian Federation, federal relevant ministries. An important decision on the reception of Crimean vessels in foreign ports can also be made at the level of intergovernmental commissions," Muradov added.
