OREANDA-NEWS. The North Atlantic Alliance expects the situation in Ukraine to worsen in the coming days and calls on Russia to immediately withdraw its troops from Ukraine. This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, reports TASS.

“In the next two days, most likely, it will be worse [in Ukraine] - there will be more dead, more injured, more destruction,” the NATO Secretary General said.

At the same time, he stressed that the alliance is responsible for ensuring that the conflict does not go beyond Ukraine, but at the same time does not seek war with Russia.

“We call on President [Vladimir] Putin to stop this war immediately, withdraw all troops from Ukraine without conditions, and resort to real diplomacy,” Stoltenberg said.

In addition, he noted, the alliance will keep the channels of military communication with Russia open in order to avoid incidents.

Aleksey Arestovich, adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, said earlier that the key subject of discussion had changed during the negotiations with the Russian Federation: the conversation moved from denazification to the non-deployment of certain types of offensive weapons in Ukraine.
