OREANDA-NEWS The New Zealand government has expanded its sanctions against the Russian Federation and its allies, adding 18 more individuals and legal entities, as well as 27 vessels from the so-called Russian shadow fleet. This was announced by TASS, citing the Foreign Minister of New Zealand, Winston Peters.

In addition to Russian and Belarusian entities and individuals, four representatives from North Korea and two Iranians were also subject to the restrictions.

It is worth noting that New Zealand sanctions, in particular, targeted Russian companies in the aviation sector, including Aeroscan and the Yakovlev Design Bureau, as well as the Kalashnikov concern, which has long been under Western sanctions. For instance, the United States imposed them back in 2015.

The agency recalls that the New Zealand government has been consistently imposing penalties on the Russian Federation since March 2022, affecting a total of over 1,800 individuals. To expedite the implementation of these measures, the local parliament has enacted a special law.

Earlier this week, it was announced that London had imposed new sanctions on four individuals, six entities, and 20 oil tankers.
