OREANDA-NEWS Finnish energy company Fortum announced its withdrawal from the Russian market, the company's representatives said, reports TASS.

The report specifies that the Finnish energy concern has made a decision to leave the Russian market. Besides, it considers a potential sale of Fortum's assets in the country.

In early March "Vedomosti" reported that one of the most important foreign investors in the Russian power industry - Fortum - has stopped implementation of projects in Russia. This decision was due to the start of Russia's special operation in Ukraine.

In March, it also became known that Fortum and the U.S. technology giant Microsoft announced a joint project in which homes in the country's capital would be heated by excess heat generated by the data center. At that time, it was noted that the heat from the process of cooling its servers will be used by the company to provide homes and office space.
