OREANDA-NEWS Gazprom has confirmed the complete cessation of gas supplies to the Danish company Orsted and Shell Energy Europe due to non-payment in rubles. It's said on the website of the holding, Gazeta.ru reports.

The statement says Gazprom has not received payment in rubles from the companies by the end of May 31 for the gas supplied in April.

The holding notes that the Danish company was supplied 1.97 billion cubic meters of gas in 2021, which is about 2/3 of total gas consumption in Denmark.

The contract between Gazprom Export and Shell Energy Europe Limited to supply gas to Germany provides for the volume of up to 1.2 billion cubic meters of gas per year. The company said in a statement that "counterparties were informed in time" that starting from April 1, payments for gas are made in rubles according to new details.

The day before "Gazprom Export" reported that starting from June 1 it would stop supplies of gas to Shell and Orsted due to non-payment. The holding added that both companies said they would not pay for gas in rubles according to the scheme proposed by Russia.
