OREANDA-NEWS Kazakh ambassador to Moscow Yermek Kosherbayev said that the republic would not join sanctions against Russia, RIA Novosti reported, Gazeta.ru reported.  He emphasized that "Kazakhstan has never participated and will not participate in geopolitical games.

According to Kosherbayev, Russia is the most important partner and the closest neighbor for the republic.

Earlier, Timur Suleimenov, the first deputy head of Kazakhstan's presidential administration, said that Kazakhstan would not help Russia circumvent sanctions.

On May 31 Charles Michel, the head of the European Council, said that the sixth package of EU sanctions against Russia, including an embargo on tanker supplies of Russian oil, could be finally approved on June 1-2.

It was also reported that the leaders of the EU member states agreed on the sixth package of sanctions against Russia. The new restrictions will affect imports of oil from Russia, the country's largest bank, state media and citizens. In this case, the EU embargo on imports of Russian fuel will not apply to Hungary.
