OREANDA-NEWS The U.S. authorities are investigating American technology companies to find out how American-made chips were installed on Russian military equipment used as part of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, the Washington Post has reported, citing sources.

The US Department of Commerce and the FBI are reportedly investigating the matter. These agencies are trying to find out from U.S. companies how the electronics they produce were supplied to the Russian military-industrial complex in the presence of existing export restrictions.

He said that the fact that the company's chip was found in the Russian armament does not mean that the company is under investigation.

According to the newspaper, "investigators from various countries have identified Western electronics in the Russian equipment and military equipment found in Ukraine". The UK-based Conflict Armament Research, which tracks shipments of various weapons and ammunition to conflict zones, told WP that most of these electronics were produced before the U.S. tightened export controls on Russia in 2014.
