OREANDA-NEWSNATO seeks to improve relations with Russia and considers dialogue with Moscow to be necessary. This was stated by Secretary General of the organization Jens Stoltenberg in an interview published on Monday with the German television channel.

"We are in favor of negotiations with Russia on arms control", he said. According to him, you need to talk with Moscow. "But even in a situation where relations do not improve, we must be able to manage complex relations with Russia", Stoltenberg emphasized.

The Secretary General rejected criticism of French President Emmanuel Macron against NATO, which in an interview with The Economist magazine said that the alliance had completely lost coordination within the union and was in a state of "brain death". Stoltenberg expressed confidence that during the upcoming December 3-4 summit in London, all leaders of NATO member countries "will confirm their contribution to the common defense". "One for all, all for one, Article 5 of the NATO charter", Stoltenberg said.

"We are united with regard to the main signal - we stick together", he stressed. In his opinion, the alliance is able to overcome existing differences and difficulties.
