OREANDA-NEWS   Europe needs to engage in dialogue with Russia, as there is no military solution to the conflict in Ukraine. Finnish President Alexander Stubb wrote about this on his page on the social network X.

"Everyone is suffering from the consequences of the conflict, and there is no military solution in sight. The outcome of the war will directly affect the security of Finland and Norway, and, more broadly, the security of the whole of Europe. At this stage, peace cannot be achieved by avoiding dialogue. Ending the war will require direct negotiations. This is in the interests of Finland," he said.

The politician also noted that he and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gare held a dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin not on behalf of the whole of Europe, but as leaders of their countries.

Earlier, Stubb discussed the results of talks with Putin with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. "Finland and Norway will continue to support Ukraine and efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace," he assured.
