Taiwan Extended Visa-Free Travel Regime for Russian Tourists on One Year
OREANDA-NEWS. Taiwan extended to July 31, 2020 a visa-free regime for citizens of Russia, as well as Thailand, Brunei and the Philippines.
Thanks to visa-free travel from Russia to Taiwan since September has increased by 65%. For travelers there are direct flights from Vladivostok and Moscow to Taipei.
In addition, from August 1, 2019, Russians will be able to stay in Taiwan for up to three weeks without a visa. The measures are aimed at increasing the tourist flow.
In early July of this year, after Taiwan announced its intention to extend the visa-free regime for citizens of the Russian Federation, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed confidence that the Russian side understands the delicacy of the Taiwan issue. "We believe that Russia will be able to properly resolve the situation," he said at a regular briefing in response to a question about how the central authorities in Beijing assess such independent actions of Taiwan in the area of visa legislation.
