OREANDA-NEWS The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has raised its forecast for global inflation levels, indicating that the indicator will remain above 4 percent in the current and 2027 years. This is reported by TASS.
In April, the IMF estimated that global prices would rise by 4.4 percent from last year's 4.1 percent, and next year their growth rate would slow to 3.7 percent. Now, in 2026 and 2027, the Fund's experts expect inflation of 4.7 and 4.1 percent, respectively.
It is noted that the suspension of a steady decline in inflation rates will be mainly due to a negative supply shock due to the Iranian conflict, which has led to an increase in the price of energy and food.
The IMF also symbolically raised its forecast for global economic growth in 2026 from 3 to 3.1 percent. Growth of 3.4 percent is expected in 2027, which is still lower than the 3.5 percent recorded in 2025.
"In less than seven years, the global economy has experienced an unprecedented series of events," the authors of the report, cited by the agency, emphasize.
Earlier it was reported that, according to the UN FAO, world food prices rose in August to the highest level since 2022.
