OREANDA-NEWS PJSC Tatneft, despite the increased demand for fuel, keeps prices at its gas stations at a stable level, but franchisees operating under the brand of this Russian oil company set them based on market conditions and logistics. PJSC's comment is provided by Interfax.
"Some of the stations operate under the Tatneft brand on franchise terms. Such gas stations belong to independent business entities (...) The company does not determine their pricing policy," Tatneft stressed, adding that amid media reports about price increases at gas stations operating under its brand, it will discuss issues of "socially responsible pricing" with franchisees.
As Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak stated on July 10, the situation on the Russian fuel market is related to the fact that refineries have to be repaired due to the "arrivals" of Ukrainian drones. According to him, it should be recognized that now the market "has problems and there is a shortage, because of which we are seeing queues," as well as unstable operation of gas stations.
Separately, Novak called on the Federal Antimonopoly Service to monitor fuel prices and identify resellers who are trying to use the situation for additional earnings and also provoke a local shortage.
