OREANDA-NEWS  World wheat prices rose by another 2.5 percent, to $7.3825 per bushel after the Ukrainian authorities announced the strikes of two Kalibr cruise missiles on the port infrastructure of the Odessa region. As a result of the attacks, equipment at the local cargo terminal was damaged, which increased the concerns of market participants about the security of grain supplies from Ukraine, Bloomberg reports, citing trading data from the Chicago Stock Exchange.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov said that as a result of recent missile attacks, 26 port infrastructure facilities and five civilian vessels were damaged and partially destroyed. The situation is also under pressure from the threats of the Russian authorities to target vessels in the Black Sea heading to Ukraine, and Kiev's counter warnings. Moscow's recent withdrawal from the grain deal also contributes to increasing tension in the global food market. All these factors have led to the fact that the exchange prices for wheat since the beginning of this week have risen to the highest level in the last five months. At the same time, record grain harvests in Russia helped prevent an even greater jump in prices on the world market. Thus, according to the president of the Russian Grain Union Arkady Zlochevsky, Moscow can ship up to 60 million tons of grain in the new agricultural season.

The rise in the price of wheat on the Chicago Stock Exchange has been going on since the beginning of this week. Earlier it was reported that during trading, the value of the September futures rose to the maximum since mid-February of $ 7.77 per bushel. However, in the future, the quotes slightly regained growth and dropped to the level of $ 7.49.
