OREANDA-NEWS Investments of the manufacturer of IT and telecom equipment Yadro (KNS Group LLC, part of X Holding) in the production of base stations will amount to 50-70 billion rubles in the future for 5-7 years, serial production will begin in 2025, the head of the holding Alexey Shelobkov said at the CIPR conference.
"This is a really big investment project. We assume that the total investment that Yadro will make in this project will definitely amount to more than 50 billion rubles, probably approaching 70 billion rubles," Shelobkov said, answering a question from Interfax.
He added that the company spent 16 billion rubles on the creation of production alone. "It is clear that it was made, among other things, for servers and data storage systems, but in the last 1.5-2 years it has been upgraded to start production of telecom products. This is a large number of measuring equipment, and the production of a radio part is one of the most complex elements. We produce a full cycle, including printed circuit boards, and this is hypercomplicated. That's why it takes a lot of time, engineers, and financing," said the head of the holding.
He estimates the payback period of the project at 5-10 years. "5-10 years is normal for this area, and this is a strategic rate for us," said the head of the holding.
According to Shelobkov, serial production of base stations will start in 2025, and by the end of the year, "thousands of base stations" will be supplied to operators who signed forward contracts with Yadro in 2022 (Vimpelcom, Megafon, T2).
"Now we have completed full preparations for mass production, that is, all the elements, all the stages of production are there, they have been worked out. We are currently producing the first hundreds of systems for our tests. The next stage, the second half of the year, is the start of mass production, so that by the end of the year thousands of [base stations] will be gone," Shelobkov said.
As part of the CIPR, Yadro and Vimpelcom demonstrated the operation of the YADRO BTS8100 base station: voice calls using GSM technology and LTE data transmission were successfully carried out, while commercially available subscriber devices were used.
The base station supports modern communication standards based on the 5G-Ready hardware platform. The YADRO solution provides support for all necessary frequency ranges: 800/900/1800/2100/2300/2600 MHz.
