OREANDA-NEWS Calls for a truce in Ukraine without guarantees for Kiev are playing in Russia's favor. This was stated by the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Ermak in his Telegram channel.

"Calls for a ceasefire in Ukraine are now playing exclusively in favor of the Kremlin. Any "truce" without guarantees and justice will only open the door to new aggression. Easing sanctions, making concessions, or negotiating on the Kremlin's terms is a trap," he wrote.

The politician stressed that the Russian side allegedly intends to use the truce to regroup, circumvent sanctions and resume the conflict at a convenient moment. According to him, the only way to achieve peace is to "defeat the imperial ambitions of the Russian Federation."

Earlier, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky called on the Russian side for an immediate and complete truce for at least 30 days. This is how he reacted to the truce announced by Russian leader Vladimir Putin during the celebration of the 80th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War.
