OREANDA-NEWS  For ten years (from 2010 to 2019), the quality of life of older people in Russia has changed slightly for the better, according to the Active longevity Index (IAD), which is calculated by the HSE in the country. This is reported by RBC.

During this period, the index rose from 29 to 29.5 percent with a maximum of 100 percent. The IAD evaluates different spheres of life of the older generation and their contribution to the economy and society. Experts attributed a good level of education and physical security to the strengths of the Russian active longevity. The weak include low life expectancy and poor health due to the low level of availability of medical care and little physical activity.

The number of working pensioners in Russia amounted to 8.1 million people as of October 1, having decreased by 413.6 thousand people compared to July 1. Thus, their number has become the lowest since 2004 (then there were 7.8 million).

Experts note that the indicators were influenced by the desire of companies to reduce employees of retirement age, as well as the decision of the authorities related to indexing.
