OREANDA-NEWS Despite the general decline in demand for cognac and brandy in Russia, sales of this type of drink from France increased by 10 percent in the domestic market in 2025, according to the A.List rating. Kommersant writes about this, noting that, given the negative global environment and the accumulation of significant unsold product residues, some companies are not opposed to importing their products to Russia through parallel imports.
The materials say that the share of the top 5 largest brands in the segment for the first time exceeded half and amounted to 51 percent against 46 percent in 2024. They provided sales growth, while others show heterogeneous dynamics — "from a moderate recession to a catastrophic drop," experts told the author of the publication.
The total volume of French cognac sales in Russian retail amounted to 311,000 decaliters last year, while overall sales of alcoholic beverages decreased by 9.1 percent to 12.85 million decaliters.
