OREANDA-NEWS In 2026, Russian residents may face an increase in the price of coffee. This was warned by Associate Professor of the Department of Economics and Management of the IMEC Liusa Baiguzina. She was quoted by the Newspaper.Ru».
According to her, much will depend on what the weather will be like in Brazil and Vietnam, the main producers of this product. If the climatic conditions worsen, this can lead to a shortage of coffee and, as a result, an increase in its cost. In addition, rising inflation in a number of countries will put pressure on prices, which will increase production and logistics costs.
If events develop according to an optimistic scenario, which assumes normalization of the weather situation and stable production, prices will rise by five to ten percent. In a moderate scenario, which excludes a critical deterioration in climatic conditions, coffee will rise in price by 10-20 percent. However, if Brazilian and Vietnamese producers encounter extreme weather conditions, they can expect a 20% or even 40% jump in the cost of coffee.
Earlier it was reported that in January-May 2025, the supply of Indonesian coffee to Russia increased almost tenfold. In monetary terms, they were estimated at $ 33.4 million.
