OREANDA-NEWS  The limit on unemployment benefits could be reduced by a third, from 41.6 billion rubles to 30 billion. The auditors of the Accounting Chamber came to this conclusion, Izvestia writes.

It is not a question of reducing the amount of payments themselves, it is proposed to subject the financial plan to cuts. The agency's report says that the current figures are based on the estimated need to help 400,000 unemployed people. However, at the beginning of autumn, the number of recipients of payments is estimated at 300 thousand people.

The press service of the Ministry of Labor stressed that the amount of the allowance is fixed by law and is subject to annual indexation. It is possible to adjust only the amount of funds allocated for these purposes.

Unemployment benefits in Russia are awarded to those who are registered with the employment center but cannot find a job even with the help of specialists. The amount of payments depends on the average earnings at the previous place of work, but not more than 15,044 rubles. This amount is paid in the first three months of registration. In the future, an unemployed person cannot receive more than 5,880 rubles. In addition, if you refuse vacancies, you may lose this payment.

Earlier, representatives of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia (FNPR), the Opora Russia and Delovaya Rossiya business associations, as well as the Chamber of Commerce and Industry said that there is an increase in hidden unemployment at domestic enterprises that does not appear in official statistics.
