Multimillion-dollar embezzlement from the Russian budget revealed

OREANDA-NEWS In St. Petersburg, FSB and police officers detained suspects in the theft of more than 40 million rubles allocated for the liquidation of illegal landfills and the removal of industrial waste. This is reported by TASS.
Investigators have opened a criminal case under Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud"). The issue of choosing a preventive measure for the detainees is being resolved, and further operational investigative measures are being carried out.
Among the detainees are Gennady Svyatkin and Natalia Lazarevich. According to law enforcement officials, they colluded and, using fictitious contracts and false information about the amount of work performed, stole money on an especially large scale.
Earlier in Nizhny Novgorod, police detained Pavel Zubeev, the chief physician of the city hospital No. 33, and his daughter, Tatiana Sokolova, the head of the ophthalmology department.
