Nabiullina named the reason for the slowdown in inflation

OREANDA-NEWS It was the tight monetary policy that caused inflation to slow down to its lowest levels in the last 5 years, said Central Bank Governor Elvira Nabiullina.
"And it was the tight monetary policy that caused inflation to turn down, despite new sanctions, additional budget expenditures, and other factors that we could not have foreseen at the beginning of last year," she said at a joint meeting of State Duma committees to review the Bank of Russia's annual report for 2025.
She noted that by the end of 2025, inflation had dropped to 5.6%. "And this is the lowest year-end inflation in the last 5 years," Nabiullina added.
