OREANDA-NEWS During the week (from February 27 to March 6), Russia's international reserves dropped significantly, decreasing by $8.9 billion. This is reported on the website of the Central Bank (CB).
As of March 6, Russia's international reserves were estimated at $802.2 billion. For comparison, the figure was 811.1 billion a week earlier. The Central Bank attributed this trend to a "negative revaluation."
International reserves include highly liquid foreign assets available to the regulator. We are talking about foreign currencies, gold, a reserve position in the IMF and special drawing rights. In early February, their volume was at a record high of $826.8 billion.
At the same time, a significant part of Russia's international reserves is all (about 300 billion euros). It still remains blocked by Western countries. The leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) called the cessation of hostilities in Ukraine one of the main conditions for lifting restrictions. In the European Union, in turn, they linked the lifting of the lock to the payment of reparations by Russia for the damage caused.
